Our teaching methods in Lyon
Courses with an effective methodology to help you learn French in Lyon
Methodology and teaching methods for French courses at Lyon Bleu International.
Generally speaking, the teaching methods and content offered in the French courses at Lyon Bleu International are based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and its pedagogical principles, as well as the objectives required for each level of the DELF/DALF and TCF exams.
Lyon Bleu’s teaching programme is called the syllabus. Group courses follow the same syllabus in all KLF schools.

Syllabus
There is a syllabus for the following levels:
- A1, A2, B1, B2: 8-week syllabus
- C1: 16-week syllabus
The syllabus has 3 sections each week:
- Communication objectives
- Grammar objectives
- Vocabulary theme
For the “Communication objectives” and “Grammar objectives” sections, objectives are proposed each week for each level.
The teacher will make work choices with the group based on the individual and collective prior knowledge of the group participants over the week.
For the “Vocabulary theme” section, a theme is suggested as a lexical thread for the learning week. The theme serves as a contextual link between the communication objectives and the grammar objectives.
The 4 skills are worked on throughout the week (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
The intercultural dimension is integrated into the learning week and is closely linked to the week’s vocabulary theme.
Teachers are free to prepare and propose the teaching resources they wish, tailor-made material adapted to the needs of the trainee/student, in the form of photocopied files distributed or in computerised form (no specific manual).
Throughout the week, the teachers assess the students’ skills and ensure that the objectives for the week in the syllabus have been achieved by the end of the week.

Lyon Bleu and its teaching team have chosen to give priority to formative assessment, integrated into the learning process, to enable the teacher and student to position themselves continuously in the progress and evaluation of the objectives still to be achieved throughout their French course programme.
Nevertheless, we felt it was necessary to provide a summative assessment for any student who so wished, at any time during their programme, so that a summative assessment.
We have chosen Evalang:
- 100% online
- Quick and easy
- Multi-support
- Based on the CEFR
Evalang assesses general French skills in the following areas: written comprehension, oral comprehension, grammar and vocabulary. This test can be taken at any time during the French programme. The Lyon Bleu team is on hand to advise students who wish to buy and take this test.

Since 2011, Lyon Bleu has been offering its students tutoring sessions that give students a context in which to practise and perfect the syllabus seen in class.
Tutoring is a free service.
At the request of the teacher or the student him/herself, the tutored student works on the skills to be acquired. The work is done on the computer using self-corrected exercises. And a teacher is on hand to help students and answer their questions throughout the tutoring session.
